macOS 27 Beta Reworks Mail's Compose Window Around Siri AI
macOS 27 Golden Gate, expected this fall, may feature a redesigned Mail app compose window. This new formatting bar prominently showcases Apple Intelligence's Writing Tools and Siri AI. Feature flags in the latest beta reveal that traditional formatting controls will now collapse or disappear when "Write with Siri" is activated. The updated bar will also offer contextual Smart Reply suggestions from Siri AI, which can be previewed by hovering. Once a suggested composition is selected, options like "Edit with Siri," "Proofread," and "Rewrite" will appear. The new bar is not enabled by default and is still under development, exhibiting bugs. For instance, in Beta 4, it only appears when replying to emails, not when composing new ones. The eventual inclusion of this redesign in the final macOS 27 release remains uncertain. This change aligns with Apple's broader strategy of integrating Siri AI across its operating systems. macOS 27 Golden Gate is anticipated to launch alongside new iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple's first foldable iPhone.
