macOS Golden Gate Public Beta: 10 Features to Try First
macOS 27 Golden Gate is now in public beta, offering early access to new features before its fall release. This update introduces a more capable Siri AI, functioning like a chatbot directly within Spotlight and a dedicated Siri app. Siri can now analyze on-screen content, personal data, and the web to answer queries and perform tasks. A key addition is Visual Intelligence, allowing Siri to interpret images and provide information like nutritional facts or bill splitting. The "Write with Siri" feature assists with composing emails, messages, and other writing tasks, learning your personal style. iPhone Mirroring allows for resizable iPhone windows on the Mac, with flexible layout options. Shortcuts are easier to create using natural language prompts, with AI generating them for you. Safari extensions can also be generated by AI based on descriptive prompts. New intelligent tab grouping and webpage update notifications enhance Safari's functionality. Significant performance improvements are noted across the system, with faster animations, smoother scrolling, and quicker AirDrop transfers. Search indexing for Spotlight, Photos, Mail, and Messages has been rebuilt for faster and more relevant results. macOS Golden Gate requires Macs with M1 chips or later and does not support Intel Macs. Siri AI will not be available in the EU or China at launch.
