Macs With M5 Chips Expected to Launch in This Order

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple supply chain analyst, has provided insights into the mass production timeline for the M5 series of chips. These chips will be used in future Macs and Apple Intelligence servers. The standard M5 chip is expected to enter mass production in the first half of 2025, followed by the M5 Pro and M5 Max in the second half of the year. The M5 Ultra chip is anticipated to enter mass production in 2026. This timeline suggests that M5 Macs will be launched in a similar order to M4 Macs. The MacBook Pro lineup is likely to be updated with M5 series chips in October 2025, and the MacBook Air should receive the M5 chip in the first half of 2026. The Mac Studio and Mac Pro are expected to be updated later in 2026 or in 2027. The iMac and Mac mini might not be updated next year, as they are not updated annually. The M5 series chips will be manufactured using TSMC's third-generation 3nm process, resulting in performance and power efficiency improvements. Apple Intelligence servers will switch to high-end, server-grade M5 chips that are better suited for artificial intelligence inferencing.
