Manage semantic model settings in context with the default settings pane (Preview)

The semantic model settings pane is becoming the default configuration method for semantic models in the Power BI service. This pane allows users to adjust settings without leaving their current page, offering the same functionalities as the traditional settings page while maintaining workspace visibility. Initially an optional preview, the pane will now open by default, though the classic page remains accessible during this transition. This new interface helps users stay in context, as it opens on the right side of the browser window, keeping the workspace visible. Settings are organized into expandable sections and tabs, covering areas like refresh, data access, and performance. A search box further enhances usability, enabling quick location of specific settings across all sections and tabs. This organization is particularly beneficial for complex semantic models with numerous configurations. While the classic settings page can still be accessed via a "Switch to classic page" option, it is intended to be retired over time. Planned future improvements, such as consolidating related settings, will apply to the settings pane. Users are encouraged to explore the new pane, understand semantic model permissions, and provide feedback on the preview experience.
