Microsoft Begins Turning Off uBlock Origin, Other Extensions In Edge

Microsoft Edge is disabling Manifest V2 (MV2) extensions, mirroring Google Chrome's actions. The change currently affects only the Edge Canary version. Users see a message indicating the extension is unsupported but can re-enable it temporarily. Unlike Google, Microsoft hasn't provided a clear timeline for the complete MV2 removal. This lack of transparency suggests potential unforeseen changes from the Chromium project. The stable, beta, and dev channels of Edge are unaffected for now. uBlock Origin, a popular MV2 extension, is still available in the Edge Add-ons store. The Edge Add-ons store recently received a significant update. Users should prepare for the eventual complete removal of MV2 extensions from Microsoft Edge.
