Mitochondrial protein OPA3 sustains cardiac function by regulating calcium handling in male mice
Heart failure is a major global disease, but the role of the mitochondrial protein OPA3 in cardiac dysfunction has remained unclear. Here, the authors show that OPA3 preserves heart function by regulating calcium handling via a PLN–SERCA2a pathway, and its loss leads to cardiomyopathy.
