Modelo’s new NA beer might just have the best logo of the year

The nonalcoholic beer market is growing rapidly, with Athletic leading the category in sales, followed by Heineken, Budweiser, Busch, and Corona. Modelo, which overtook Bud Light as the US's leading beer in 2023, is entering the market with its new alcohol-free beer, Model0%. The brand's new logo is a straightforward and serendipitous design that builds upon the legacy of the brand. Gut Design presented the work to Modelo, and it was an instant "go" due to its simplicity and power. The design features a "0%" label at the top of the bottle, sporting the "o" of the legacy logo, and does away with other elements from the original design. The "o" in the new logo still incorporates some of the parallel line motifs of the full-strength formula, honoring the brand's legacy. The design was met with immediate approval, with everyone on board to respect the visual legacy of the beer and open to something new. The design agency, Gut, experimented with various concepts before stumbling upon the simple and powerful mark that visually signifies a nonalcoholic Modelo that tastes like the regular Modelo fans love. The new design system can scale across new NA products, featuring a secondary typeface Rauschen B, and more.
