Modernize SAP Identity Management with Microsoft Entra
Organizations are modernizing their SAP identity management by shifting from on-premises systems to cloud strategies. Microsoft Entra and SAP have enhanced their integrations to simplify connecting SAP identities with the broader application landscape. These updates automate user lifecycle changes, enforce consistent access policies, and improve governance across SAP and non-SAP applications. Key new features include more flexible provisioning with SAP Cloud Identity Services, support for custom user attributes, and account discovery. OAuth 2.0 client credentials secure service-to-service communication between the two platforms. A significant integration connects Microsoft Entra ID Governance with SAP Identity Access Governance for unified business role management. This creates a centralized identity control plane, enabling automated joiner, mover, and leaver processes. SAP Cloud Identity Services, now more flexible with Microsoft Entra, centralizes authentication and provisioning. The integration enhances governance by allowing requests for SAP business roles within Microsoft Entra access packages. Beyond identity, Microsoft offers other security capabilities for SAP, including data discovery, endpoint protection, incident detection, and response acceleration. These advancements support an identity-first Zero Trust strategy for SAP environments.
