Google Meet is expanding its language support for transcripts and captions. Starting today, transcripts are available in seven additional languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Captions included with meeting recordings will also be available in three additional languages: Italian, Japanese, and Korean. There is no admin control for this feature, and end users can visit the Help Center to learn more. The rollout pace will be slower than usual, with a potentially longer than 15-day rollout starting on March 12, 2025. Transcripts are available for Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus, Education Plus, and Workspace Individual Subscribers. Captions included in meeting recordings are available for Google Workspace Business Plus and Standard, Education Plus, Enterprise Essentials and Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and Google One subscribers with 2 TB or more storage space. The feature will be rolled out carefully to ensure performance and quality. Users can visit the Google Help Center to learn more about recording video meetings and using transcripts with Google Meet. The rollout will be updated when complete for each language.
