Nanoleaf's New $80 Smart Ceiling Light Works With Matter and HomeKit
Nanoleaf has introduced the Smart Multicolor Ceiling Light, an affordable and Matter-compatible addition to smart home lighting. This light features a unique dual-sided design, combining a main downlight with an upward backlight for a layered lighting effect. Users can independently control each side, allowing for both bright illumination and ambient glow options.The fixture houses 196 LEDs, capable of producing up to 2600 lumens and offering white light temperatures from 2200K to 6500K. It also incorporates RG0 Low Blue Light technology to minimize eye strain. With 28 color zones, the light supports millions of colors for dynamic gradients and boasts a high Color Rendering Index of 95 for true-to-life colors.Measuring 13.8 inches in diameter and 1.18 inches thick, it is designed for hard-wired installation with a standard light switch. The light seamlessly integrates with Apple's HomeKit ecosystem via Matter over Wi-Fi, enabling control with Siri and the Home app. It also works with the Nanoleaf app, which unlocks advanced features like hundreds of color scenes and music pairing.The Nanoleaf app is essential for creating and enjoying multi-color lighting scenes with gradients, as HomeKit does not currently support this functionality.
