Netflix is discontinuing casting support from mobile devices to many TVs and streaming devices. Users will now primarily need to use TV remotes for Netflix navigation. Casting will still function on older Chromecast devices and Google Cast-enabled TVs for ad-free plan subscribers. Newer Google TV Streamers, Chromecast with Google TV, and Android TV devices may lose casting functionality. Reports of the feature disappearing began surfacing in mid-November. Some users with ad-free plans are already experiencing the removal of cast device options. This change makes finding and resuming content more difficult for some users. Netflix claims it sunsets underutilized features to reallocate resources. Technical limitations were cited in the past when AirPlay support was removed. The company has provided some clarification regarding the changes.
