Google Workspace Updates

New file picker method for pre-selecting Google Drive files coming soon

Google Drive developers currently use the drive.file scope and Google Picker API to optimize user experience and safety in their applications. The Google Picker API is introducing a new method called setFileIds(fileIds) to the View class. This method allows developers to present users with a picker that is pre-navigated to specific file IDs, making it faster and easier for users to grant access. This change aims to provide a more continuous experience for applications. There is no admin control for this feature, and admins do not need to take any action. Developers can use this feature by providing the FileId via the View class, and Google will prompt the user to grant OAuth access directly to that file or files. End users do not need to make any changes or adjustments. The feature will be rolled out to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains starting on January 20, 2025, and will be fully available within 1-3 days. The feature is available to all Google Workspace customers and Workspace Individual Subscribers. There are no additional resources or settings required for this feature.
