New General Purpose Amazon EC2 M8i and M8i-flex instances

AWS has launched general availability for its new Amazon EC2 M8i and M8i-flex general-purpose instances. These instances utilize exclusive AWS Intel Xeon 6 processors, providing superior performance and memory bandwidth compared to other Intel cloud processors. Both M8i and M8i-flex offer up to 15% improved price-performance and 2.5 times greater memory bandwidth than previous Intel generations. They also deliver up to 20% better performance than M7i instances, with significant gains seen in specific workloads. Workloads like PostgreSQL databases can see up to 30% speed improvement, NGINX web applications up to 60% faster, and AI recommendation models up to 40% faster. M8i-flex instances are ideal for many general-purpose workloads, offering common sizes for applications that don't fully utilize all compute resources. M8i instances are suited for all general-purpose workloads, particularly those requiring larger instance sizes or sustained high CPU usage. SAP-certified M8i instances include 13 sizes, with two bare metal options and a new 96xlarge size. These instances are currently available in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Spain) regions. Customers can acquire them through Savings Plans, On-Demand, and Spot instances.
