New MacBook Air Announcement Reportedly 'Imminent' — Here's When

Apple is reportedly planning to announce new MacBook Air models with the M4 chip as early as this week. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, inventory has significantly decreased, and Apple is preparing a Mac-related announcement in the coming days. The new MacBook Air models are expected to come in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, featuring the M4 chip with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, which is up to 25% faster than the M3 chip. The minimum RAM will likely increase to 16GB, with a maximum option of 32GB. The new models may also have longer battery life and an upgraded 12-megapixel camera with support for Center Stage and Desk View. The camera feature was previously limited to newer iPad models and Macs connected to Apple's external Studio Display. The new MacBook Air models will likely have three Thunderbolt 4 ports, supporting up to two external displays even when the lid is open. There may be an option for a nano-texture display, which minimizes glare on the screen. No major external design changes are rumored for the next MacBook Air models, which were last redesigned in 2022. If the new models are announced this week, expect a press release on the Apple Newsroom website and a YouTube video announcement.
