New Security Controls in Edge for Business
Microsoft Edge for Business integrates security controls directly within the browser to protect data and users. It extends Conditional Access, Purview DLP, and Defender controls to all sessions, regardless of device management status. The browser can block sensitive data from reaching unsanctioned AI services, a critical feature for preventing data leakage. Contractors can be restricted to company data boundaries on unmanaged devices through Intune App Protection Policies. Clipboard and screenshot actions are controllable, with pasting into unapproved apps being automatically blocked. Edge for Business uses on-device AI and computer vision to detect and block fake support scam pages in real time, enhancing threat protection. Extension management is centralized in the Microsoft 365 admin center, allowing administrators to control what can be installed. These controls operate natively, powered by Microsoft's security stack, including Entra ID, Purview, and Defender. Work profiles on Edge create isolated browser environments for users, especially contractors, on unmanaged devices. This approach ensures data security and compliance without the complexity of managing dedicated hardware.
