New two-year follow-up of Roche’s Columvi extends overall survival in relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma patients
Roche announced two-year follow-up data from the STARGLO phase III study showing a 40% overall survival benefit for patients with relapsed/refractory DLBCL using Columvi plus GemOx compared to Rituximab plus GemOx. The study demonstrated a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in overall survival, not reaching a median in the Columvi group versus 13.5 months in the control group. Eighty-nine percent of patients achieving complete remission at the end of Columvi treatment were still alive after one year, with 82% maintaining remission. The Columvi combination showed a 59% reduced risk of disease progression or death. Safety profiles remained consistent with previous findings, though a higher rate of adverse events, mainly low-grade cytokine release syndrome, was observed. Columvi's effectiveness is notable given the aggressive nature of R/R DLBCL and limited treatment options for patients ineligible for transplant. The combination is approved in over 30 countries and is now an NCCN category 1 preferred recommendation. This treatment offers a fixed-duration, off-the-shelf option, addressing a critical need for rapidly available and effective therapy. Roche continues research into Columvi for various lymphoma treatments, highlighting their commitment to personalized healthcare. The study's findings reinforce Columvi's potential to significantly extend the lives of patients with poor prognoses.
