New York bill would require kill switches on all 3D printers

New York wants to put a kill switch on your 3D printer. The state's 2026-2027 executive budget bill (S.9005 / A.10005) would require all 3D printers sold in New York to include "blocking technology" — software that scans every print file through a "firearms blueprint detection algorithm" and refuses to print anything flagged as a potential gun part.
