No M4 Ultra Chip? Apple Confirms the M4 Max Chip Lacks UltraFusion

Apple's spokesperson confirmed to Numerama that the M4 Max chip does not have an UltraFusion connector, which would have enabled the creation of an M4 Ultra chip in the future. This suggests that Apple may not release an M4 Ultra chip, as previously speculated. Apple had already stated that not every generation of M-series chips would include an "Ultra" variant. The M4 Max chip's lack of UltraFusion technology makes it even more unlikely that an M4 Ultra chip will be released. Apple could still design an M4 Ultra chip from scratch, but this seems unlikely according to the report. The new Mac Studio is available with M4 Max and M3 Ultra chip options, but no M4 Ultra chip is offered. The M3 Ultra chip is essentially two M3 Max chips fused together with UltraFusion technology, doubling its specs compared to the M3 Max. In contrast, the M4 Max chip does not have this technology. The M3 Ultra chip features up to a 32-core CPU, up to an 80-core GPU, a 32-core Neural Engine, and support for up to 512GB of unified RAM. Apple claims the M3 Ultra chip is up to 1.5x faster than the M2 Ultra chip and up to 1.8x faster than the M1 Ultra chip.
