Now generally available: use Gemini in the side panel of Workspace apps in seven additional languages

Gemini is now available in the side panel of Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Gmail for all users in seven additional languages, including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. This feature allows users to get help summarizing, analyzing, and generating content without switching applications or tabs. Gemini in the side panel is available for Workspace customers with a Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, or Gemini Education Premium add-on. Admins do not have control over this feature, and end users can access the side panel by clicking on the "Ask Gemini" button in the top right corner of the apps. Image generation is not supported in the additional languages, and Gemini in the side panel of Slides is only available in English. Users can visit the Help Center to learn more about collaborating with Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail. The rollout pace for Rapid Release domains starts on November 7, 2024, and for Scheduled Release domains on November 21, 2024. The feature will be rolled out gradually over 15 days for feature visibility. Gemini for Google Workspace is available in multiple languages, but some features are only supported in English. Users can access other Gemini features by setting their Google Account language to English.
