One Week Until iPhone 17: Here's What We Know
Apple is launching four new iPhones next week, with the standard iPhone 17 being the least exciting. It will not feature the slim design of the iPhone 17 Air or the upgraded cameras of the 17 Pro. This year, only one standard iPhone 17 model will be available, as the "Plus" variant is being discontinued. The iPhone 17 will resemble the iPhone 16 but will have a larger 6.3-inch display. Its camera bump is expected to remain the same, featuring a dual-lens setup. The iPhone 17 might come in black, white, steel gray, green, purple, and light blue. Its display bezels could be slimmer, and it may gain 120Hz ProMotion refresh rates. The device will be powered by the standard A19 chip, offering speed and efficiency improvements. All iPhone 17 models are anticipated to feature vapor chamber cooling technology for sustained performance. The standard iPhone 17 is expected to use Qualcomm modems for 5G and will feature Apple's new Wi-Fi 7 chip. It will support 25W wireless charging with Qi 2.2 compatible chargers. A significant upgrade will be the 24-megapixel front-facing camera, and the rear cameras will likely retain the 48-megapixel Wide and Ultra Wide lenses from the iPhone 16. Pricing for the base iPhone 17 could potentially increase to $850 from $799. The iPhone 17 will be unveiled at Apple's event on Tuesday, September 9, with pre-orders likely on September 12 and a launch on September 19.
