Open Source AI Agent OpenClaw Gets Native iOS App

OpenClaw, a popular open-source AI agent, is now available as a native app for iPhone and iPad. This new iOS application allows users to securely connect to their existing OpenClaw gateway for various tasks. Users can engage in chats, voice approvals, content sharing, and device-aware automation directly from their mobile devices. The iOS app eliminates the need for third-party messaging apps like Telegram or WhatsApp for remote access. OpenClaw itself is a self-hosted AI agent that runs on a Mac or PC. It integrates with AI services such as Claude, OpenAI, and Gemini, enabling AI models to interact with local files, web browsers, and messaging applications to complete tasks. To use the iOS app, a gateway must be running on a local machine. The app supports pairing via QR code or setup code and offers real-time and background voice modes. Users can also review gateway action approvals and directly share content from their iOS devices into OpenClaw. The app allows for the selective use of device capabilities like the camera, screen, and location. Additionally, users will receive push notifications for workflow updates and node status. However, OpenClaw has potential risks, including susceptibility to prompt injection and the requirement for extensive system permissions on gateway devices. The project was initially named Clawdbot but was renamed due to a complaint from Anthropic.
