OpenAI unveils AgentKit that lets developers drag and drop to build AI agents
OpenAI has launched AgentKit, a new platform designed to simplify agent creation for enterprises. This aims to centralize development efforts, previously fragmented across various tools. AgentKit introduces Agent Builder, a visual canvas for designing and versioning multi-agent workflows. It also includes a Connector Registry for managing connections to OpenAI products and third-party services. ChatKit allows for easy integration of chat interfaces for these agents. OpenAI is also expanding agent evaluation capabilities with automated grading and prompt optimization. While some features are in beta, ChatKit and new evaluation tools are generally available. Pricing for AgentKit will be integrated into existing OpenAI API models, bringing more enterprises into OpenAI's ecosystem. The platform promises rapid iteration and visibility into agent functionality, as demonstrated by a quick agenda-scanning agent. Competitors like Google and Microsoft also offer similar developer toolkits for agent building. Early adopters, like fintech company Ramp, report significant time savings and improved collaboration. Connector Registry will offer pre-built integrations with popular platforms like Dropbox and Google Drive. A safety feature called Guardrails is included to prevent PII leakage and malicious behavior. ChatKit aims to simplify the complex process of deploying chat UIs for agents. While AgentKit simplifies building, it doesn't negate the need for technical expertise, and some view it as complementary to platforms like Zapier.
