Hi all, organic papayas are hard to get at my local stores, so I've only ever had them precut. When I saw my Whole Foods started carrying them, I snagged one. It wasn't particularly hard, but I let it sit on my counter for maybe a week? It was nice and soft when I cut into it, but the center was rock hard. Since I am not familiar with the fruit, I assumed it was like a peach core. As that's what it felt like. I ended up just cutting around it. Now I'm seeing there should have been seeds?
