Perplexity Launches Native macOS App for AI-Powered Search

Perplexity has launched its first native desktop app for macOS, allowing Mac users to access its AI-powered search capabilities directly from their desktop. The app offers a streamlined way to use Perplexity's advanced search features without needing a web browser. The Mac app includes Perplexity's signature features, such as Pro Search and voice input capabilities, providing instant answers powered by advanced AI models. Users can receive up-to-date answers backed by cited sources and engage in threaded conversations to ask follow-up questions while maintaining context. The app also features a library that archives past searches and discoveries, as well as custom shortcuts for quick access to features. Perplexity Pro subscribers can access additional benefits, including up to 600 Pro Searches daily and the ability to choose between different AI models. Pro users can also analyze uploaded files, such as PDFs, CSVs, and images, using advanced AI models. The Perplexity Pro subscription costs $20/month or $200/year. A free version of the app is available, offering up to five Pro Searches per day and access to Quick Search functionality. The app is now available for download through the Mac App Store.
