Porsche Remains Committed to Offering CarPlay Ultra in Future Vehicles

Porsche's chief designer, Michael Mauer, has confirmed that the luxury car maker will offer CarPlay Ultra in future vehicle models, but did not provide a timeframe for availability or disclose further details. Porsche was one of the first automakers to commit to offering CarPlay Ultra when it was announced in June 2022. The company previewed what CarPlay Ultra would look like in its vehicles in December 2023, but had not provided an update until now. CarPlay Ultra is currently only available in luxury Aston Martin vehicles in the US and Canada. Apple has stated that many other automakers, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, are working to offer CarPlay Ultra over the next year and beyond. CarPlay Ultra features deep integration with a vehicle's instrument cluster and systems, built-in apps, widgets, and more. The interface is tailored to each vehicle model and automaker's identity, and drivers can adjust the color scheme. Some automakers, including Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Volvo, Polestar, and Renault, have stated they have no plans to offer CarPlay Ultra. Polestar had previously indicated it would offer the next generation of CarPlay, but a recent report suggests otherwise. CarPlay Ultra was launched last month and offers a range of features, including connected iPhone data and vehicle driving data.
