Programming local confinements in crystalline frameworks through reticular chemistry

Triazolate metal–organic frameworks with Zn5Cl4 nodes are formed with terminal Zn-bound groups pointing inwards, creating tunable confined pores. Post-synthetic chloride-to-hydroxide exchange yields dense Zn–OH sites, enabling reversible CO2 chemisorption and low-pressure CO2 capture.
