ProPublica has hired Ryan Little and Kevin Uhrmacher as deputy editors for its data and news applications teams. These new hires are intended to enhance ProPublica's editing capabilities and improve collaboration between its various departments. Ryan Little previously served as data editor at The Baltimore Banner, contributing to award-winning investigations. His work there included coverage of the city's overdose crisis and student transit issues. Little also collaborated with ProPublica on a rent pricing investigation that prompted a Department of Justice inquiry. He holds a master's degree from the University of Maryland, where he now teaches data journalism. Little expressed his eagerness to contribute to ProPublica's high-impact work. Kevin Uhrmacher joins from The Washington Post, where he spent over eleven years as a graphics assignment editor. At The Post, he was instrumental in impactful visual journalism, contributing to multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning projects. Uhrmacher launched various trackers and project-managed a database-driven story on enslavers in Congress. He stated his excitement to join ProPublica's leading news applications team and contribute to making consequential data accessible. Uhrmacher is honored to join an institution dedicated to exposing abuses of public trust.
