Anker has launched two separate recalls for its power banks due to potential fire risks. The first recall affects Anker PowerCore 10000 Power Banks sold in the US between 2016 and 2022, which may have a battery issue leading to overheating, melting, smoke, and fire hazards. Affected power banks have the A1263 model number and can be checked on Anker's website. Customers can receive a $30 gift card or a free replacement power bank. The second recall is worldwide and affects several Anker power bank models, including the Anker Power Bank, Anker MagGo Power Bank, and Anker Zolo Power Bank. Anker discovered a potential defect with batteries sourced from one of its vendors, which could contain impurities or foreign particles, leading to short circuits, overheating, smoke, and fire. The likelihood of malfunction is considered minimal, but Anker is recalling the devices out of caution. Customers can check their serial number or submit proof of purchase through the online recall form. Anker is offering free replacement products or gift cards, but no refunds in the US. In China, customers are eligible for a full refund, an upgrade exchange, or a gift card. Anker is working with its suppliers to set up new oversight and testing protocols to prevent future issues. Affected power banks should be disposed of at municipal household hazardous waste facilities.
