Qi2 25W wireless charging is coming to iPhones and 'major Android smartphones'

The Qi2 wireless standard is evolving with a new branding, Qi2 25W, emphasizing its wireless charging speed. This latest iteration offers up to 25 watts of power, a significant 66% increase over the previous Qi2 platform. The Wireless Power Consortium believes the increased efficiency will boost wireless charging adoption. While iPhones already use Qi2, the adoption of Qi2 25W isn't a major surprise but welcomed. Most Android phones have never been Qi2-certified, making this a potentially transformative development. Some Android phones previously required magnetic cases for Qi2 charging. Smartphones are not the only devices adopting Qi2 25W, as power banks and chargers are also being certified. Qi2 25W, formerly known as Qi2.2, was initially announced in April. Hundreds of devices are currently awaiting testing and official certification, but the specific Android phones remain unknown.
