RAAEE: The ultimate tracking framework for your product features

Most teams only look at "what users click" when making design decisions, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. To build a product that scales, makes an impact, and lasts, a deeper view of how every part of the UI is used is needed. The RAAEE framework (Reach, Attractiveness, Adoption, Effectiveness, Engagement) provides a more comprehensive understanding of feature performance. This framework was created by Charles Carette, a product leader who has worked at Rappi and Monzo. To illustrate how the RAAEE framework works, let's use a real example of an e-commerce app with a feature that lets users save products to a favorites list. The RAAEE framework measures five key metrics: Reach (do users see the feature?), Attractiveness (do users want to interact with it?), Adoption (how many users have incorporated it?), Effectiveness (does the feature deliver value?), and Engagement (how often do users return to it?). By tracking these metrics, designers and product leaders can gain a deeper understanding of how their UI is used and make data-driven decisions to improve it. This kind of tracking also helps prioritize with real data, spot where user flows are breaking, and connect design decisions directly to business outcomes. By using the RAAEE framework, designers and product leaders can close the gap between design and impact and make a real difference in their products.
