Roche announced positive Phase II trial results for petrelintide, an investigational weight-loss drug. The ZUPREME-1 trial showed significant weight loss in participants with overweight and obesity over 42 weeks. Participants taking petrelintide achieved up to 10.7% mean weight loss, compared to 1.7% with a placebo. The drug demonstrated a favorable tolerability profile, similar to the placebo, with few discontinuations due to adverse events. Gastrointestinal-related events were the most frequent, but mostly mild. The study met its primary endpoint, highlighting petrelintide's potential in chronic weight management. The data support further development, which will inform Phase III trial designs. Roche will present full trial data at an upcoming medical congress. Another Phase II trial for petrelintide in type 2 diabetes patients is expected in the second half of 2026. A combination trial with CT-388 will be initiated later in 2026.
