Roche announces the launch of AXELIOS 1, a transformative next-generation sequencing platform
Roche has launched AXELIOS 1, a new single-molecule sequencing platform powered by proprietary SBX technology. This platform offers a unique combination of accuracy, speed, scalability, and cost efficiency for laboratories. AXELIOS 1 enables end-to-end, same-day whole-genome sequencing with results available in hours for research applications. The platform's flexible design allows it to handle studies of varying sizes, from small projects to massive genomic endeavors. Collaborations with institutions like Hartwig Medical Foundation and Broad Clinical Labs have validated its real-world capabilities. AXELIOS 1 also supports library preparation and analysis tools, including partnerships with 10x Genomics and Google DeepVariant. The SBX technology converts DNA/RNA into high signal-to-noise 'Xpandomers' for accurate sequencing. Roche will provide tailored library prep kits and an open-source bioinformatics analysis suite called XOOS. The technology has demonstrated potential across various research applications, including oncology and infectious diseases, and has achieved a world record for sequencing speed. AXELIOS 1 is currently for research use only and not for diagnostic procedures.
