Roche to invest USD 50 billion... Note

Roche to invest USD 50 billion in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics in the United States over the next five years

Roche has announced a $50 billion investment in the United States over the next five years, which will create more than 12,000 new jobs. The investment will include new and expanded manufacturing facilities in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and California, as well as a new research and development site. Roche already has a significant presence in the US, with over 25,000 employees, 15 R&D centers, and 13 manufacturing sites. The new investments will further strengthen Roche's US footprint and are expected to create nearly 6,500 construction jobs. The company will increase its existing footprint in eight US states and invest in new and upgraded manufacturing and distribution capabilities for its innovative medicines and diagnostics portfolio. Roche's CEO, Thomas Schinecker, stated that the investments underscore the company's long-standing commitment to research, development, and manufacturing in the US. Once the new manufacturing capacity comes online, Roche will export more medicines from the US than it imports. The company is committed to sustainability and aims to achieve net zero by 2045.
