Roche announced positive results from the lidERA phase III study evaluating giredestrant in early-stage, ER-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. Giredestrant, an oral SERD, showed a 30% reduction in the risk of invasive disease recurrence or death compared to standard endocrine therapy. This data will be presented at the 2025 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. At three years, 92.4% of patients on giredestrant were disease-free versus 89.6% on standard therapy. The iDFS benefit was consistent across all subgroups, and a positive overall survival trend was observed. Giredestrant also reduced the risk of distant recurrence by 31% and was well-tolerated. ER-positive breast cancer is common, and recurrence after adjuvant therapy is a significant concern. Giredestrant aims to become a new standard of care in the early-stage setting. The lidERA trial enrolled over 4,100 patients, with iDFS being the primary endpoint. Roche is committed to developing giredestrant across multiple treatment settings.
