Roche announced positive results from the IMvigor011 study of Tecentriq for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. The study used a ctDNA-guided approach after surgery to identify patients at risk of recurrence. Tecentriq significantly reduced the risk of death by 41% compared to placebo in ctDNA-positive patients. It also reduced the risk of disease recurrence or death by 36%. This approach spared low-risk patients from unnecessary treatment and side effects. The study utilized Natera's Signatera MRD test to detect circulating tumor DNA. Safety was consistent with prior Tecentriq studies. The results were presented at the ESMO Congress 2025 and will be discussed with health authorities. Tecentriq binds to PD-L1, potentially reactivating T cells to fight cancer. The study's findings support a more personalized treatment approach for bladder cancer.
