Sales teams are going all-out on using AI

Salesforce's latest report underscores the significant impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the sales sector while cautioning against improper implementation. Surveying 5,500 sales professionals, including 400 from the UK and Ireland, the report highlights industry trends and challenges related to AI. In the UK and Ireland, 79% of sales teams are experimenting with or have implemented AI, with many experiencing positive outcomes. AI usage correlates with revenue growth, as 83% of AI-using teams saw increased revenue compared to 66% of non-AI teams. Despite improvements, 59% of UK&I sales reps still expect to miss their quotas this year, although this is better than the 78% from last year. Broader studies indicate companies struggle to fully benefit from AI due to misalignments between workers and management and poor data foundations. UK&I sales reps spend 71% of their time on non-selling tasks, hindering customer engagement and sales. Some companies are introducing training, enhancing data security, and streamlining tech stacks, but UK firms are lagging. Salesforce’s Amber Armstrong emphasizes the necessity of effective AI deployment. Companies must balance rapid AI adoption with thorough planning to avoid negative consequences.
