Samsung's latest software update may be bricking older phones

A recent software update from Samsung has been causing issues with older Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 series. The update has been bricking devices, causing them to get stuck in a bootloop and never fully turn back on. Some users with Galaxy M51 and A90 models have also reported the same issue. Impacted devices can recover functionality by performing a factory reset, but this will result in the loss of any data that hasn't been backed up. If you own an older Galaxy smartphone and haven't yet downloaded the update, it's recommended to disable automatic updates until Samsung shares more information. The Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ are now five years old, which is an age where companies may stop providing regular updates. Software support for older models can become an issue for any hardware manufacturer. Samsung has not yet commented on the issue, but the company has been reached out to for a statement. It's advised to wait for more information from Samsung before downloading the update. Users who have already downloaded the update and are experiencing issues should try performing a factory reset to recover their device's functionality.
