Sonos iPhone App Finally Gains Live Activities Support

Sonos has introduced a new feature in its iOS app, enabling Live Activities support. This update allows users to quickly access playback controls directly from their Lock Screen. Once audio playback begins on a Sonos device and the app is closed, the Live Activity will appear. It displays the room or group currently playing audio. Users can play, pause, or skip tracks directly from this Lock Screen interface. The Live Activity also works even if playback was initiated outside the Sonos app, such as through direct service control, Bluetooth, or AirPlay. Currently, album art is not displayed, but Sonos is exploring options to improve this. While Live Activities function on Apple Watch and CarPlay, playback controls are not yet supported on these platforms. Sonos has acknowledged this as a highly anticipated and necessary feature for their users.
