Sony opens an official PS5 rental service in the UK

Sony has partnered with Raylo to offer a PS5 rental service in the UK, making the console more accessible to those who cannot afford the upfront cost. The service is available on the PlayStation Direct website and offers 12-, 24-, or 36-month lease agreements or a rolling monthly contract. The longer the lease term, the lower the monthly price, with the PS5 Digital Edition starting at £11 per month for a 36-month agreement. The PS5 Pro is also available for lease, with a rolling contract costing £35.59 per month. The lease includes a lifetime warranty, and customers can cancel at any point, although there may be fees for early termination. There are also options to lease the PlayStation Portal and PS VR2 headset. While leasing can be beneficial for those who cannot afford the initial cost, it may ultimately cost more than buying the console outright. At the end of the lease, customers can choose to buy the device, continue renting, or upgrade. In contrast, Xbox offers a similar financing option, but customers get to keep the console at the end of the financing period.
