Bitcoin investor Chun Wang and three polar explorers launched on a SpaceX flight, becoming the first to travel over both poles. The 3 1/2-day journey circles the Earth in a unique polar orbit at 270 miles altitude. Wang, who has visited the polar regions, wants to view them from space and push boundaries. His crew includes a filmmaker, robotics researcher, and polar guide who plan experiments, including taking human X-rays in space. The mission, named Fram2, commemorates a Norwegian polar research ship and intends to highlight climate change. The crew carries a piece of the original ship to honor polar exploration history. Until now, space travel hadn't ventured beyond 65 degrees latitude. Wang proposed the polar flight idea to SpaceX, following similar chartered missions. SpaceX aims to make spaceflight routine for people without aerospace backgrounds. Wang sees the trip as a challenge, marking his 1,000th flight across various modes of transportation.
