GitLab is committed to delivering cutting-edge AI capabilities by integrating the latest models, but this fast pace can create challenges for enterprise organizations with strict governance, compliance, and security standards. To address this, GitLab has introduced Duo Model Selection, a new capability that gives teams control over the large language models used in their organization. This feature is available in private beta in GitLab 18.1 to all GitLab.com customers using Duo Enterprise. Duo Model Selection allows organizations to adopt GitLab Duo faster by selecting models from their pre-approved vendor list, rather than using the GitLab default model. With this feature, administrators can configure models at the organization level, ensuring consistent governance and compliance standards. They can also control models per GitLab Duo feature, based on specific needs. Duo Model Selection is currently in private beta, and interested customers can join by reaching out to their GitLab account team. This feature is part of GitLab's efforts to accelerate innovation with agentic and generative AI. The GitLab 18.1 release also includes other new features, such as agentic AI capabilities, which can be explored in an on-demand launch event.
