Spotify Launches Offline Backup Feature for Premium Users

Spotify has introduced a new feature called Offline Backup, available to Premium subscribers, which allows users to listen to music offline without manually downloading playlists. The feature is rolling out globally and aims to provide a solution for situations where users find themselves without an internet connection and haven't prepared their offline music library in advance. Offline Backup creates a personalized playlist using recently streamed or queued tracks, leveraging cached content on the user's device, without consuming extra data or storage space. The playlist can be filtered and sorted by artist, mood, and genre, and will evolve over time based on listening habits. The feature was developed following successful user testing last year and is available on both Android and iOS platforms, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. To access Offline Backup, users need to have listened to more than five songs recently and have enabled offline listening in their Spotify app settings. The playlist will appear automatically in the Home feed when the device is offline. Spotify recommends adding the Offline Backup playlist to the library for quick access. Users who can't find the feature should check that their Spotify app is updated to the latest version. Overall, Offline Backup provides flexibility and convenience for Premium subscribers who want to access their favorite music offline.
