Accurate deconvolution of cell states from bulk tumor RNA-seq can be hindered by heterogeneous malignant cells. Here, the authors present Statescope, a Bayesian framework that incorporates DNA-derived tumor cell purity to overcome heterogeneity, thus identifying cell states and proportions more accurately.
