Study: Vapes Beat Nicotine Replacement Therapy as a Smoking Cessation Tool
Although several studies have demonstrated the value of nicotine vapes as an antismoking intervention, new evidence suggests that e-cigarettes may also be an effective smoking cessation aid for socially disadvantaged populations. A trial published in the Annals of Internal Medicine recruited more than 1000 individuals in Australia who received a government pension or allowance and were looking to quit smoking. Participants received an 8-week supply of either a nicotine replacement therapy, such as gum or lozenges, or a nicotine vape.
