Supreme Court Agrees to Review Apple’s Petition Regarding Civil Contempt Finding in ‘Apple v. Epic Games’
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear Apple's petition in its case against Epic Games. The Court will review only one of the two questions Apple presented. This question concerns whether Apple could be held in civil contempt. The contempt finding relates to Apple charging a commission on external payments. This action allegedly violated the spirit of a previous injunction. The injunction's wording did not explicitly forbid commissions on these external payments. Apple had also questioned the scope of the injunction. They argued it should only apply to Epic, not all developers. However, this second question will not be reviewed by the Supreme Court. The Court's daily orders are, surprisingly, set in Lucida Sans Typewriter font.
