The Supreme Court has declined to hear Michael Avenatti's appeal over his conviction for misappropriating nearly $300,000 in book proceeds meant for his former client, Stormy Daniels. Avenatti represented Daniels in a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, who Daniels claimed had a sexual encounter with her in 2006. Avenatti was convicted of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in 2022 and received a four-year prison term. The conviction was affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in March. Avenatti argued that the evidence against him was not sufficient to sustain a conviction, citing a recent Supreme Court ruling. However, the Supreme Court denied his petition without dissent. Avenatti is currently serving time in California and has been convicted of other crimes, including extorting Nike and defrauding a client. The federal government declined to comment on the denial of Avenatti's appeal. Avenatti's attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
