Surface Pro 12-inch review: A downgrade, but it sure is cute

Microsoft's 12-inch Surface Pro is the most iPad-like hybrid tablet features, but it comes with compromises such as a slower processor and worse screen compared to the 13-inch model. The device weighs 1.5 pounds and is 7.8mm thick, making it the thinnest Surface ever. The keyboard, sold separately for $149, doesn't angle up for ergonomic typing. The Surface Pro is a success if you're looking for a compact device that can occasionally transform into a laptop, but don't expect too much from it. The device is powered by Qualcomm's eight-core Snapdragon X Plus, which allowed Microsoft to build a more compact tablet. The Surface Pro 12-inch is fan-less, which could be an issue in warm environments, but it's completely silent. The screen is downgraded, maxing out at a 90Hz refresh rate, and the resolution is scaled down to 2,196 by 1,464. The Surface Pro doesn't have a magnetic Surface Connect charging port, and Microsoft only includes a USB-C cable in the box. The device is fine for basic productivity tasks, but it's not ideal for serious photo or video editing due to its size and resolution.
