Take control of your PostgreSQL maintenance
Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible server now offers enhanced self-service maintenance controls within the Azure portal. These new capabilities empower users to manage platform updates, security patches, and engine upgrades more effectively. Users can now view upcoming maintenance events, including their scheduled time and type. Crucially, eligible maintenance can be rescheduled to a preferred date and time, up to two weeks in the future. This flexibility is vital for production workloads that cannot tolerate unexpected downtime during critical business periods. Additionally, users have the option to apply eligible maintenance on demand, allowing them to initiate updates when it best suits their operational schedule. After maintenance is completed, a detailed history is available for review, supporting operational and audit-related workflows. These controls aim to reduce stress and provide greater certainty for managing database infrastructure. While currently available in the Azure portal, CLI and API support are planned for the future. For deferrals longer than two weeks, users will need to submit an Azure support request.
