Google Workspace Updates

“Take notes for me” in Google Meet now captures citations to transcripts

Google Meet is introducing a new feature that allows meeting notes to include citations or timestamps, which correlate to the exact point in the meeting transcript that references the summarized notes. This feature is an extension of the "take notes for me" functionality, which automatically captures next steps during a meeting. The citations will appear in the meeting notes document, and when clicked, will open the meeting transcription tab and take the user to the specific point in the conversation. This allows users to drill into the details of the discussion for more context. To use this feature, both "take notes for me" and transcriptions must be enabled. If the transcription feature is deselected, meeting notes will not contain citations. Admins can visit the Help Center to learn more about allowing Google Meet AI to take notes for their users. The feature is available to Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and also with the Gemini Education Premium add-on. The rollout of this feature will be slower than usual, starting on February 20, 2025, for Rapid Release domains, and will be updated when the rollout is complete. The feature is part of the Gemini Enterprise and AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons, which are no longer available for purchase as of January 15, 2025. Users can visit the Google Workspace Admin Help and Google Help centers to learn more about taking notes with Gemini in Google Meet and allowing Google Meet AI to take notes for their users.
