A kids' Halloween costume featuring a tiny bowler hat and giant red-lipped smile led to a backlash for retailer Target, which has now withdrawn the "Circus Clown" outfit from sale. The costume's resemblance to vintage Jim Crow caricatures and blackface performers, especially as posed at Target's app and website, was soon spotted.
